Eye Exams after LASIK
Dallas LASIK surgeon Dr. Gary Tylock and team explain what happens after LASIK in LASIK Post-Operative Exams.
Are you considering having LASIK in Dallas? As with any surgery, post-operative care is important with LASIK. When you’re choosing your eye surgeon, you want to make sure that you choose one that provides quality follow-up care after a procedure.
At Tylock-George Eye Care, we want you to see clearly following your LASIK surgery, which is why our patients go through a series of post-op exams over the first year following their procedure. We believe that by monitoring your healing closely, we can ensure that your vision will be as clear as possible after surgery.
Before Your Laser Eye Surgery
Before we approve the surgery, our doctors will give you a thorough pre-operative eye exam to make sure you’re a good fit for LASIK. This process includes corneal mapping, visual acuity tests, checking for eye diseases, and various eye measurements.
These careful measurements are used to provide you with safe — and effective — LASIK surgery. At Tylock-George, we’re proud to be the first surgical team in Texas to use the advanced Contoura Vision technology in our LASIK procedures. This state-of-the-art equipment uses our incredibly precise measurements to give equally precise vision correction.
Your First Follow-Up After LASIK
The first post-operative exam occurs the day after your LASIK surgery. During this exam, our team of physicians will check on your vision progress and examine the surface of your eyes to ensure that your recovery is normal. This examination is done with a tool commonly used in eye exams, a slit lamp.
A slit lamp is a device, used with a microscope, that shines a thin strip of bright light into your eye and allows us to examine it clearly. We will check for dry eye, assess tear quality, and evaluate the clarity of your cornea to ensure your eyes are healing as expected after LASIK.
Subsequent LASIK Post-Op Eye Exams
Additional eye exams throughout the year ensure that you’re meeting your vision goals. In rare cases, patients may have to undergo an enhancement surgery to reach their ideal vision. At Tylock-George, we offer one of the industry’s most comprehensive LASIK Lifetime Assurance Plans, helping patients continue to work towards their vision goals in the future.
You can expect to come in for regularly scheduled follow-up exams at these points after your initial surgery:
- 1 week
- 1 month
- 3 months
- 6 months
- 1 year
