Dr. Sbenaty began her academic journey at Middle Tennessee State University, where she earned her undergraduate degree in Biochemistry. This foundation in the sciences ignited her curiosity about the complexities of the human body and ultimately led her to pursue a Doctor of Optometry degree at the prestigious University of Alabama Birmingham’s School of Optometry.

During her training, Dr. Sbenaty completed rigorous externships in both Dallas and Alabama, where she honed her skills in ocular disease management and refractive surgery care. These experiences allowed her to engage with a diverse range of cases, from managing challenging referrals from local optometrists to diagnosing and treating a variety of eye diseases, including glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, dry eye, retinal detachments, and pediatric amblyopia. She also gained invaluable experience in providing comprehensive pre- and post-operative care for cataract and refractive surgeries, ensuring her patients receive the highest standard of care.
